Scanning for Love

Should I blame love on a dose of oxytocin
and other juice that squirts between my ears?
My sweetheart sets my mind and heart in motion.
A kiss makes me forget about my fears.

The noisy hippocampuses and amygdalas:
they chatter on with nucleus accumbenses
like springtime soil sprouting flowering sprig-dalas
while birds and butterflies flit in wild rumpuses.

The feelings that I wish could last forever
will come and go like hunger, thirst, and sleepiness,
but love won’t swirl my heart for just whomever,
my brain knows how to find my sweetie’s sweetiness.

heartbeat, neuron, language, soul, and mind:
My multitudinous feelings, intertwined.
