Rebecca Brothers

Rebecca Brothers writes about the spirits and ghouls of her native Kentucky, incorporating traditional ghostly tales and folklore in her stories for a contemporary audience. She finds inspiration in wacky local sites, like the cemetery where Colonel Harlan Sanders is buried (fans leave buckets of chicken on his marble memorial), or the river boats along the Ohio river (where she imagines a sea witch piloting one of those big, white behemoths down to New Orleans). Her Kentucky take on the legend of the Banshee can be found in her short story "The Widow Watcher of Wooten Creek" in Gothic Fantasy, an anthology published in September by Flame Tree Press.
